If you’ve visited Disneyland park recently, you may have noticed that Fantasy Faire is quickly taking shape next to Sleeping Beauty Castle. Opening this spring, Fantasy Faire will not only be a home for Disney princesses, but it will also be a natural extension of Fantasyland. To find out how the look and architecture of this new area will be designed to flow with Sleeping Beauty Castle and Fantasyland, I went to the creative lead for the project: Michel Den Dulk, Creative Director, Walt Disney Imagineering. "My goal,” he said, “was that the new Fantasy Faire would meld over into the existing Fantasyland naturally.” He said that his intention would be for first-time visitors to never suspect that this addition came later than the rest of Fantasyland. “I took a lot of inspiration from the classic Disney movies like ‘Pinocchio.’ There’s some reference that’s in the architecture to the way the backgrounds of ‘Pinocchio’ are drawn. I took inspiration from the castle – you’ll see that there’s a lot of gold finials and beautiful banners and turrets that are similar to Sleeping Beauty Castle … So it really looks like it’s all part of the existing Fantasyland.”
Another key piece of architecture in Fantasy Faire will be the Royal Theatre, which was the former Carnation Plaza Gardens Stage. “My main inspiration there,” Michel explained, “was a Gothic kind of fair. King Arthur Carrousel and all the structures surrounding Dumbo – those were the main inspiration for the theatre structure. Stay Tuned for more Fantasy Faire news and Updates here!

Pacific Wharf Café is adding a barbecued pork bao roll, a traditional Chinese steamed bun, along with ginger milk tea and almond cookies. And their popular Chinese chicken salad in a sourdough bowl fits the bill, too. The San Francisco cart adds the barbecued pork bao roll, edamame, almond cookies and ginger milk tea, while the Boudin Bread Cart is offering a giant loaf of sourdough shaped like a snake, for “the year of the snake.”

Disneyland Resort current President, George Kalogridis, is going to Disney World. Starting February 1, 2013. Disney made the announcement on Wednesday as part of a broader shuffling of management at its $12.9 billion parks and resorts division. Mr. Kalogridis, who has been running Disneyland Resort in California, will also be responsible for overseeing the construction of an “Avatar”-themed land in Orlando, estimated to cost $400 million, and implementing a sweeping technology upgrade anchored around a vacation management service called MyMagic+.
Kalogridis will leave his role as Disneyland’s president and assume that same role at the Walt Disney World Resort. Current Disney World President Meg Crofton will drop the position and keep the one she’s had since July 2011 as Walt Disney Parks and Resorts Operations, U.S. & France. Current Animal Kingdom Vice President Michael Colglazier will become president of the Disneyland Resort. The new Animal Kingdom Vice President will be Josh D’Amaro, who formerly worked as the head of Adventures by Disney. Michael Colglazier, who has been running Disney’s Animal Kingdom park, which is part of Disney World, will take over Mr. Kalogridis place as the Disneyland President. Both men will report to Meg Crofton, president of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts Operations for the United States & France; Ms. Crofton previously also served as Disney World’s direct chief, but those duties will now fall to Mr. Kalogridis. So, to not get confused, this is how is going to be: Disneyland's President now Walt Disney World Resort's President Walt Disney World's President now Walt Disney Parks and Resorts Operations, U.S. & France Animal Kingdom Vice President now Disneyland's President. Disney also announced a series of executive changes in marketing and its time share Disney Vacation Club business. Disney has officially released information on the next generation of their FastPass system and other enhancements they’re calling MyMagic+. The new system will give guests a more personalized vacation through the use of a new wristband called MagicBands. MyMagic+ consists on allowing Disney resort guests to be able to enter the parks without turnstiles and pay for their Walt Disney World purchases with touch to pay technology. This is currently being done through RFID (Radio-Frequency IDentification) chips embedded into their “Key to the World” cards, which also serve as their room keys. Within in the next few months, Disney will be changing the cards for wristbands called "MagicBands", with RFID chips in them. These wristbands will serve as resort guests’ room keys, park tickets and FastPass+. They’ll also be able to charge purchases to their account using the bands and collect their PhotoPass pictures. As mentioned on the Disney Parks Blog by Disney Parks and Resorts Chairman; Tom Staggs A major component of MyMagic+ is the new My Disney Experience website and mobile app, which gives guests planning their trip the latest information on all Walt Disney World Resort has to offer. Linking the entire MyMagic+ experience together is an innovative piece of technology we developed called the MagicBand. Worn on the wrist, it will serve as a guest’s room key, theme park ticket, access to FastPass+ selections, PhotoPass card and optional payment account all rolled into one. We’ve began testing certain aspects of MyMagic+ in Florida last month and the early reactions we’ve gotten have been fantastic. Based on Guests initial reaction to this announcement, Disney released more information regarding the functionality of this system and more questions. • If your MagicBand is lost, you will be able to disable it through your smartphone or by telling a Disney cast member. The RFID chips in the bands will not hold any personal information, just code that the Disney computers can read to look up your information. We will have more updates as soon as more details about this new experience are announced.
