Celebrate the Grandest Tales and Tastes of Africa During Harambe Nights at Disney’s Animal Kingdom5/4/2014 by Shawn Slater, Communications Manager, Walt Disney Parks and Resorts Creative Entertainment Where were you when “The Lion King” came out in 1994? I was a tour guide at The Magic of Disney Animation at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, where several sequences featuring young Simba had been animated. It’s hard to believe, but this summer marks the 20th anniversary of that now-classic film. In honor of the epic tale of “The Lion King,” Disney’s Animal Kingdom is prepared to stage a special celebration event like no other. All begins with a Welcome Reception in the park’s Harambe Village, including mouth-watering appetizers and African-inspired wine and beer. Then it’s time for the ‘mane’ event! Take your seat inside the newly built Harambe Theatre for an unforgettable performance of “The Lion King – Concert in the Wild.” This all-new, never-before-seen theatrical experience features a live orchestra and choir, dancers, digitally projected movie moments, and dramatic lighting and scenic elements – all hosted by a celebrity guest narrator. The show brings to life the humor, heart, and stirring emotional power of Simba’s journey to find his place as the Lion King.
Disnet finally announced that the world of Pandora will be coming to the park in a few years. After the announcement of this project, Disney officials were not on spot of the expansion, without mentioning details or news. The construction was supposed to start on early 2013 but, due to some copyrights actions, the construction process will be completely starting on min 2014. The Disney Parks Blog served as the source to let us all know about the details of this project. From the moment AVATAR was released, people were captivated by the mythical world of Pandora. When we announced that we’d be working with James Cameron and Lightstorm Entertainment to bring this world to life in our parks, we felt certain that this partnership and combination of talent and imagination would produce an experience unlike any other ever created. Staggs mentions "Our combined team has taken huge steps forward in “imagineering” Pandora as a real place for our guests to see, hear and touch. At the first-ever D23 Expo in Japan, we shared an early glimpse of the plans for AVATAR at Disney’s Animal Kingdom park and I wanted to share some of these breathtaking images and a short preview of what’s to come with all of you." As these concept renderings show in epic scale, in the world of AVATAR guests will encounter awe-inspiring floating mountains and wander through a nighttime jungle of bioluminescent plants that are alive with light and sound. Guests will also discover what it feels like to soar into the sky riding a Banshee. And the new AVATAR-inspired land won’t be the only change coming to Disney’s Animal Kingdom. As part of the largest expansion in the history of the park, Disney will be adding all-new entertainment experiences, including a new nighttime spectacular where live music, floating lanterns, water screens and swirling animal imagery all combine to bring a show to Discovery River that will delight guests and truly cap off their day at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. The park will introduce more nighttime entertainment as well, including live performers on Discovery Island (pictured above) and a new nighttime version of the Kilimanjaro Safaris. As the world of AVATAR becomes real at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, the energy and passion shared by Imagineers and the Lightstorm team for this monumental task continues to be remarkable. I can’t wait to see the reactions of guests as they step into a world that until now has only existed on the screen.
The World of AVATAR will be opening on early 2017. Universal Orlando finally announced the Wizarding World of Harry Potter - Diagon Alley, which is coming to Universal Studios Florida on 2014.
By Guillermo de la Cova. @Gdelacova We all know about the Haunted Mansion, we all know about the 999 ghosts that live there and we all know that there's room for one more. But what if I tell you, not all Disney Haunted Mansions are the same? We have shared previously here about Phantom Manor, Disneyland Paris version of the Haunted Mansion, but today I bring you the latest news about the newest Disney haunted adventure. Mystic Manor. Mystic Manor is part of Mystic Point, the final land on the multi million dollar expansion of Hong Kong Disneyland, which started back in 2011 with the Toy Story land, then followed by Grizzly Gulch and finally Mystic Point, which will open on May 17th. Anchored by an all-new E-ticket attraction, Mystic Point will include new dining and merchandise locations that transport visitors to the mysterious world of Lord Henry Mystic, an eccentric adventurer who has traveled the world collecting unusual objects. Mystic Manor is Lord Henry’s stately Victorian mansion and private museum, which is home to his extensive array of fine art and antiquities. Open to the public, guests can tour his home by boarding his latest invention – the “Mystic Magneto-Electric Carriage” – in order to view the more than 7,000 artifacts in his collection. However, when Albert, Lord Henry’s pet monkey, opens a peculiar music box in the museum, all of Mystic Manor’s contents magically come to life. Set to a soundtrack created by legendary composer Danny Elfman, Mystic Manor features a trackless ride system, which is one of the most advanced we’ve ever built. It combines innovative special effects, state-of-the-art technology and legendary Disney storytelling to create an immersive experience that can only be found in Hong Kong. Hong Kong Disneyland will sure now be one of the most visited international Disney park of the season! hope they bring this amazing ride to Orlando in a near future.
