By Tom Parker Before CityWalk and Island of Adventure, Universal Studios Florida was one of the most amazing and up to date parks in Orlando. Stunning sets and Facades, mixing reality with fiction, and creating one amazing atmosphere loved by guests and visitors. We have a complete look back at Universal Studios Florida before the 2000 expansion in our Time Traveling Series, Click here for part 1 and here for part 2. Our main focus of this article will be the Guitar-shaped Hard Rock Café restaurant, which was the second "entrance" to the park. The Restaurant theme, as most Hard Rock Cafés around the world have, was about movie and music memorabilia - This restaurant in particular was all about the Kingdom of Rock 'n Roll. 1997 came by quickly, Universal Studios announces that the sole Studio park will be expanded into the Universal Studios Escape, including the Islands of Adventure park, Universal CityWalk Orlando and multiple hotels. After City Walk and Islands of Adventure officially open for the 1999/2000 season, The original Hard Rock Café was closed as an Eating/Dining Location and remained just as a Museum/Private Events location until 2001 when the area next to it started Construction as the Children's Area for Universal. Since that Time, the area was closed down, leaving the Hard Rock Cafe as a decaying facade for almost 10 years. And Sadly after years in an Abandoned state, Universal Demolished in 2011 the Original Hard Rock Cafe for an "Exciting New Project" yet to be announced. I really hope you enjoyed this post!
