It’s been 35 years since audiences first became enthralled with Indiana Jones, the archaeologist turned adventurous hero in “Raiders of the Lost Ark” – and more than 25 years since audiences fell in love with “The Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular” show at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. For those of you who aren’t familiar, “The Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular” is a daily stunt show that takes guests on a breathless journey to watch stunts from the film franchise performed before their very eyes – including fight scenes, whip tricks, sword fights, high falls, fiery explosions and much more. The storyline of the stunt show was inspired by “Raiders of the Lost Ark,” the first Oscar-winning film in the Indiana Jones franchise. And here’s an interesting bit of history: the stunt show opened in 1989, the same year “Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade” was released, making the stunt show an instant smash hit with park guests

With the dessert party, guests will enjoy holiday-themed desserts while surrounded by the amazing light display. New for 2015 is a dinner reception Jan. 1 – 3, featuring a selection of small bites including beef, shrimp and turkey, plus wine, beer and specialty beverages. You’ll be able to book these experiences beginning Sept. 16, so check DisneyWorld.com around that time for full details and to reserve your spot. Also with this news, Disney announced that this year will be the last year for The Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights. They said "As you plan ahead, we also wanted you to know that this holiday season will mark the finale for The Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights. The display of lights has enjoyed a successful run at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, going all the way back to when it first appeared on Residential Street. In order to prepare for some incredible experiences coming to the park, including the recently announced Toy Story Land and a Star Wars-themed land, we will not be able to present The Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights in the future. Our heartfelt thanks go out to the family of Jennings Osborne for letting us share their family tradition year after year. And thank you to all of you for being part of the spectacle with us. Here’s to making more memories in this, the 20th and final year."
What do you think about 2015 being the last Year? Let us know in the Comments below. Yesterday morning, Disneyland Resort President Michael Colglazier was joined by Mickey Mouse and special guests at Sleeping Beauty Castle to commemorate the Resort’s official 60th anniversary. On this day in 1955, Walt Disney first welcomed guests to “this happy place,” and today we honored that historic day with a special ceremony. The ceremony at Sleeping Beauty Castle also included the tradition of playing the recording of Walt Disney’s July 17, 1955, welcome to the first Disneyland guests. Mickey Mouse and all his friends were in attendance, and Disney Legend and Academy Award-winning composer Richard M. Sherman (“Mary Poppins”) was joined by actress and singer Ashley Brown (star of “Mary Poppins” on Broadway) singing “Feed the Birds” and leading Disneyland park guests in singing “Happy Birthday.” Take a look at the video below. |
